With my favorite friend and co-worker Chat GPT we’ve been developing a solution to translate our Resource files (Resx) into multiple languages, making our platform Actualog more accessible to users worldwide – we have to support all 40 data languages that we have in solution user interface.

The project leverages Azure AI Translation Text, a powerful tool that offers high-quality translation. Azure AI Translation Text uses a tiered pricing model based on the number of characters translated.

We’ve also integrated the HtmlAgilityPack library to ensure HTML tags and markup remain intact during translation. This feature is particularly useful when dealing with text that includes HTML elements.

During the development process, we encountered a few challenges. One of them was a mix-up with the order of parameters in the TranslateAsync method call. It was a reminder of how attention to detail is crucial in programming. We corrected the issue, and the translations were successful.

Here’s the exciting part: We’re making this solution available as open-source on GitHub! We believe in the power of community and sharing knowledge. So, whether you’re a seasoned developer or a newbie, we invite you to explore, use, and improve this project.

Our little open-source solution for translating .resx files, combined with the power of Azure Cognitive Text Translation, can help businesses localize their e-commerce platforms efficiently and cost-effectively. We invite you to check out our project on GitHub and contribute to its development.

The Importance of Language in B2B E-Commerce

When it comes to B2B e-commerce, language plays a crucial role. Businesses are increasingly operating in a global marketplace, and being able to communicate effectively with customers in their native language can give a company a significant competitive advantage.

According to a study by Common Sense Advisory, 75% of consumers prefer to buy products in their native language. Furthermore, 60% of consumers rarely or never buy from English-only websites.

Therefore, localizing your e-commerce platform into the languages of your target markets can significantly boost your sales. The most popular languages in B2B e-commerce are English, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Spanish. However, the choice of languages should be based on your specific business needs and target markets.

According to recent data, the most widely spoken languages in the world are Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and English. However, in the realm of B2B e-commerce, English, German, and Mandarin Chinese dominate.

Azure Cognitive Text Translation: A Powerful Tool for Localization

Azure Cognitive Text Translation is a cloud-based machine translation service provided by Microsoft. It’s part of the Azure Cognitive Services suite, which offers various AI-powered services for building intelligent applications.

The translation service supports over 60 languages, making it a versatile tool for localization. It uses advanced machine learning algorithms to provide high-quality translations, and it’s continually improving as more data is processed.

The cost of using Azure Cognitive Text Translation depends on the volume of characters you need to translate. Microsoft offers a tiered pricing structure, so the cost per character decreases as the volume increases. For instance, the first 2 million characters per month cost $10 per million characters, and the price drops to $7.50 per million characters for volumes above 2 million and up to 50 million characters per month. This makes it a cost-effective solution for large-scale localization projects.
